Thorn needs your help. We’re tapping the best and brightest minds in technology to stay steps ahead of the perpetrators and identify/rescue more victims of child exploitation. THE CHALLENGE Participants will be asked to work on a variety of challenges facing the organization and its partners in the fight against child sexual exploitation. This will include challenges like: analyzing large data sets to identify patterns and linkages to help identify potential trafficking victims and/or perpetrators, extracting data from images and creating an ability to sort/access this data, and more. The Hackathon takes place Saturday, August 23 – Sunday, August 24th at Twilio's headquarters in San Francisco. More info on judges and prizes here:

A THREE MONTH INNOVATION COMPETITION TO MAKE NORTH TEXAS MORE LIVABLE AND SUSTAINABLE North Texas has a lot to be proud of. Home to over 6.5 million residents, more than 30 colleges and universities, and the headquarters of 18 Fortune 500 companies, it's no wonder that North Texas is one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Because of our tremendous assets, our region's population is going to grow by 6 million people over the next 50 years. These new North Texans will bring with them new opportunities—and new challenges. Introducing the NTx Apps Challenge—an innovation competition to develop apps that solve regional challenges such as water conservation and waste management. In October 2013, Hacking Pediatrics held the first hackathon ever focused on pediatric healthcare. It was sponsored by Boston Children's Hospital in collaboration with MIT's [email protected] Medicine. In under 36 hours, 16 teams brought to life incredible ideas that will change the lives of children and their families and we are doing it again this year. Hacking Pediatrics Hackathon 2.0 will once again bring together the most innovative minds to disrupt pediatric healthcare. This years event will be held on the 17th - 19th of October in the Boston area.
