This topic is unique as it is only NYC's 2nd hackathon in the Maritime space and the amount of data that's 'trapped and untapped' in the industry is so massive that there's a huge market opportunity to push the space forward. It takes place March 29 – March 31, 2019 at Company (335 Madison Ave). The hackathon will address real-world challenges around data in the shipping industry, including Maritime Big Data, Cyber Security and Supply Chain Velocity, focusing on ports, logistics and supply chain.
The hackathon is being organized by the newly launched New York Maritime Innovation Center (NYMIC) http://nymic.org along with R1 Labs http://r1labs.com (who hosted the 1st hackathon in the space in 2017). You'll join 100+ participants (developers, designers, domain experts) for a weekend of building prototypes and rapid fire market validations.
Participants will have rare access unique data sets and to top maritime industry and tech executives, investors and entrepreneurs so they can effectively work on building MVPs for commercially viable solutions.
Hackathon projects will be judged on business potential and applicability for a pilot program. Participants will compete to win prizes including cash ($1000 as top prize) and a chance to participate in the inaugural NYMIC Bootcamp Accelerator to work with industry executives and investors to grow their solutions for market-readiness. Judges include industry executives from the maritime industry. Demos from the weekend will be presented Sunday March 31.
