The RAC Road Safety Hackathon, hosted at Maker&Co in the heart of Bunbury, is an opportunity for diverse parts of the community to collectively work on the challenge of achieving zero road fatalities.
This year we are focussing on the impact of driver distraction.
Inattention on our roads is deadly, with distraction, along with speeding and drink-driving, now a leading cause of road deaths and serious injuries.
2017 saw more than half of all road fatalities occur on regional roads, despite less than 20 per cent of the State’s population residing in regional communities.
We are looking for people who want to help us come up with solutions to a problem that has a huge impact on our community.
From problem solvers, to creatives, developers, analysts, residents and designers, we need as many people as possible to put their minds towards tackling this epidemic.
It’s amazing what a group of passionate people can achieve in just one weekend! You will be working alongside industry representatives and experts, and we will equip you with the best tools and approaches to get you going. Let’s not forget about the great relationships and networks you will build over the course of the weekend.
Participant teams will have the opportunity to win a share in the following prizes:
1st place: $2,000
2nd place: $1,000
3rd place: $500 towards a stay at RAC Parks and Resorts
The event will run from the 17 - 18 August 2018.
After tackling the problem, teams will present their concepts and early prototypes to a panel of industry mentors and experts, with the panel awarding first, second and third place prizes,
Take part, have fun and most of all, help us save more lives.
